EBT Technologies
What is e-Speed Electron Beam Tomography (EBT)?

The e-Speed scanner is the fastest cardiac and body imaging system available. It works by focusing and accelerating an electron beam from a fixed point, capturing images of body organs at faster than 1/20th of a second. The speed of EBT is more than 10 times faster than any other imaging systems, including multislice CT and magnetic resonance imaging, providing clear high-resolution images.

What is Thermography?" document.
Is Electron Beam Tomography safe?
Because EBT captures images so rapidly, the radiation exposure is the lowest possible amount - about the same amount as you might receive flying from New York City to Los Angeles on a commercial flight. EBT is a non-magnetic, non-claustrophobic technology that involves no shots or needles of any kind for routine preventive imaging. You remain fully clothed during your examination and the scan itself takes only a few minutes.
What can Electron Beam Tomography detect?
Cardiovascular disease and many cancers have a long latent period (pre-clinical phase) before any symptoms appear. Diagnostic tests such as Exercise Treadmill Testing and Nuclear Medicine Scanning detect blockage of the coronary arteries only after you have more than 50% obstruction and symptoms of disease have become obvious. EBT can detect the earliest possible signs of heart or vascular disease, lung and colon cancer, and more. The earlier these diseases are detected, the sooner you can begin aggressive preventive strategies to reduce your risk of serious medical events. Prevention is a science, and scientific research has clearly proven that early prevention works.
What types of scans are performed on the e-Speed EBT Scanner and how do I know which is right for me?
The e-Speed EBT Scanner offers the EBT Heart Scan (for measurement of coronary artery calcification), EBT Lung Scan (lung cancer screening), EBT Total Vascular Scan (comprehensive vascular calcification screening), Noninvasive Angiography, and Virtual Colonoscopy (no shots, no laxatives, no insertion of the 6-foot colonoscope). Our prevention experts will help you determine which imaging study is right for you based on your age, gender, lifestyle choices, family health history, and genetic risks.
EBT technology is new to me. Are there other centers across the nation that feature EBT preventive imaging?
Prominent medical centers across the country have already embrace this exciting technology, including the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Cedars Sinai, Harbor-UCLA, and Tulane. EBT has been featured as a highly significant breakthrough in preventive medicine in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, USA Today.
